What foods do you like to bake this time of year? Are there any that are traditional to you?

Every Thanksgiving I make the pecan and chess pie for dessert . So , one might say that is my tradition and my baking part for this time of the year . I 'm allergic to other nuts so pecans and walnuts are the only two I can have w/out a visit to the hospital . During this time of the year I love fresh walnuts and pecans .

I have received 2 great packages over the past week . I want to send a big thank you to both people who took the time to send me a package .... THANKS ! In my one package from Faliing For Ewe I got a great basket w/ 2 balls of yarn itside . I love this basket . The basket sets just pefect right by my side of the couch !! In the other package i got SKITTLES,(LOVE),a book aboput scarves , a very pretty pink book mark, 2 balls of Cascade Fixation yarn and a pai9r of fingerless gloves . Thank you a again swap folks !

Lots to talk about . Where do I start ? I received some amazing packages in the mail today from my starbucks swapper and color swap . The color swap box wazs PINK . I love pink !!! Last week Chris and the boys went deer hunting and Nathan killed an 8 pointer , got some pix of that as well that I will post . Nickolas shot and one and missed on the first day and then shot and missed two on the second day . Nathan is home with strep today and will not be able to go back to school until Wednesday .

Another week has flown by and I'm so behind on postings here ! I am suprized I have not got a pm saying a need to post . Nathan 's b-day was Sunday 10/19 and he's 9 . We really did not do much for Nathan's b-day . He got a new bow , against my better judgement , and money . Thursday the 23rd was my b-day . I don't mind telling my age , I'm 35 . For my b-day I got a ball winder and swift , supper at the Japanese Shoguns , and a new cell phone . I also received several cards through the mail , pm wishes and e-cards for my b-day . Each and everyone was very thoughtful . I have never belonged to a group , Ravelry, w/ people who are so thoughtful . A person can tell when someone is meaning what they say or when they are just TRYING to be polite . I have not run into any bad apples in Rav so far and i must say it is very refreshing . I have hope that the world still harbors ginuine people who really do care about the well being of others .

I have survived fall break week . I liked having the boys home with me this week . We really did not do anything special . On Tuesday we went to see mom and dad and the boys helped dad trim up some trees . Since dad has had all this cancer surgery he is just not able to do somethings so I take the boys over and let them help dad out some . Dad will not ask for help , pride i guess, but if the boys are there and they ask him if there is anything they can do for him then he will get them help .
I can't believe that Nathan will be 9 on Sunday . Wow !!! He's growing up on me .

What do you plan on dressing up as for Halloween? If you are not dressing up, what will your kids be? my fav is the witch so i guess i will be her again this year . my boys are at the "age " where it is not as cool as it has been in years passed to go trick - or - treating . me , i love halloween . this year we will probally just be at home handing out candy .

well , everything seems to be falling back to normal status ! one week w/out internet is torcher !! i am sorry to everyone out there in rav land if it looks or looked like i flaked on you but i really did not my p/c was broke . i dont know if anyone else has hughes net but its not all its cracked up to be . yes , it is better than dail up but the service is crap and the monthly cost is high for no more than they offer . i was able to use the p/c at my parents house but its a 20 minute drive and we all know the gas prices . my parents still have dail up also , so , it really was more of a pain to drive over there and then have to wait on their dinosaur p/c to connect .

wow what a week . our internet was down all week and hughes net finally came friday and fixed it . went to the dr with dad on wednesday and he is now CANCER FREE !!! nathan had a f'ball game saturday and they won . his team beat the team and coach that had a 2 year plus winning streak ! nickolas has not felt real well this week . he seems to have a snot problem . i think it might be due to the hay being cut across the street .

What meals or foods mean ‘Fall’ to you? Fall to me means chess pie ,i make , and ham that i mom bakes at Thanksgiving . I am not a 'turkey 'person , i will eat some but not a lot . i cook the turkey for our families . hubs and i have our parents and siblings over for Thanksgiving every year . My mom and I do most of the cooking and we eat around 6 . i volunteered for this project every year because i hate to have to please everyone by going to their house for their dinner and in the end someone ends up with hurt feelings . if hubs and i host and have it later everyone else can go where they need and i will have to be home cooking . works for me everytime .

oh wow ! it's been a while ! my last ppost was over a week ago , better get in gear the mods will have my hide . nothing exciting this week . nathan had his first f'ball game on sat (9/20) and his team won . the coach handed out the schedule and i have noticed the kids are playing games on sunday !? what's up w/ that ? i must say i am not liking that one bit . sunday is MY day to catch up on crocheting and plan the week ahead . my washing machine is about to die !!! i called where we bought and we got the extended warrenty on the washer upon purchase ,we never buy the extended warrenty . anyway the washer worker came out and said the transmittion was about to croak ... great !! i am still using the washer but waiting on the part to come in and washer worker to come fix it . today would be good for me . the washer sounds like a chainsaw when it is running . i think nathan has an ear infection . he is complaining , more than usual , about his ear hurting . our reg dr is out right now , new baby, and will not be back until mid oct . i will have to take nathan to a walk -in clinic . i will be glad when our reg dr comes back .

dad is home from vandy and doing well . i have mailed my falling for ewe package , sure hope she likes it . i got mine from my swapper and i got a cool afghan book , that i love . she also sent me some very pretty fallish colored yarn love that too . i will love it a lot more when i figure out what to crochet with it . i am thinking about a scarf . i might do the same as i done with the yarn from summer of love swap . i am crocheting an afghan for myself right now w/ the yarn that i got from summer love . i will have to put some pix of it up when i'm finished but at the rate i'm going i might have it done sometime in 2009 !! nathan ran across a bully at football practice thursday night . the bully knocked nate down, pulled his helmet and then cleeted him in the side . i know it's football and f'ball is rough but there is no reason for the kid to be a jerk like that . i have always taught my boys to NEVER start trouble and to walk away . this bulling b/s is all new to me and i'm not liking it one bit . i feel helpless cause i dont know what to say to nathan to help him understand that this kid is a jerk . secretly , i think i want nathan to beat the shit out of the kid and then maybe he won't bully nathan or anyone else but i also know that is not the right message to send to nathan . nickolas is still loving the swim team .

dad had lung surgery today and everything went well . the drs took out three cancer spots and all three were dead . i was able to see him for just a minute while he was in recovery . dad was setting up , talking , drinking sprite and he said that he was sore . the dr cut him in under his armpit and seperated his ribs to get to the spots of cancer . all in all dad looked great .

What is your favorite thing about Autumn? i like to watch the leaves change color . i dont like to rake the leave but i do like to watch them change . candy corn , love candy corn . i know candy corn is out year around but to me its the best in the fall . i also like the candy pumpkins ! thanksgiving , always very interesting . hubs and i have a large extended family and we all gather at our house for thanksgiving . hubs parents are divorced and there is never a lack of excitement between his parents . oh yeah , i cant stand his mother and fireworks usually fly between she and i . weather, i like the cool nights of fall . i like to open up my windows and get fresh county air . we live in the country and minus the cow farm across from us the air is wonderful in the fall .

feeling some better but still not 100% . chris is leaving tomorrow for kentucky . i hate that he can't be here when dad has surgery , chris keeps me grounded . i'm not sure where i'd be in life without chris or the boys . nickolas is still liking swimming . nathan had his first scrimmage ,football, on saturday . not real sure what team won/lost but the scrimmage was from 9am to 12noon ! whatever .

we went on vacation to gatlinburg for labor day . had a ton of fun UNTIL we all got sick . we ended up having somekind of summer flu junk . for 2 days all we done was sit on the couch , sleep , blow snot and sweat ! this junk is horrible !! i did manage to take lots of pix before the cold set in on us . dad has surgery next week on his lung(s). chris is leaving next week for kentucky for 3 days .

kids are back in school . yay ! not really but i am ready for some quite time . nathan has started tackel football . this is his 3rd yr playing football but 1st yr in tackel . nickolas is swimming , no football for him . nick wanted to play golf for the school but will not be able to until spring. going to the mountains labor day ! i can't wait , i wish we were there now . i finished chris' afghan and i must say it is very pretty . pics are on flickr and rav profile . i have started a new pattern and i must say it is about to get the best of me . i went to the LYS today and was there for 2 hrs and still have not got the jist of it yet . i think we did more talking and laughing than crocheting . oh well , it was fun and that is all that matters . dad is having lung surgery sept 9th at vandy . after this last surgery he will be cancer free. yay ! i think he's done great considering he was only to make it about a year , according to drs , and it's been 20 months . i just worry about him having surgery so soon after bi-pass surgery . i suppose that is why i'm not the dr . i feel sure his lung dr knows what he's doing . fingers crossed still , just to be on the safe side .

oh my , this week has started off w/ a real bang . yesterday dad went to vandy to see if he had any blockage . vandy went in thru the growing to the heart to look about blockage . i cant remember what the name of that test is called but you get the pic. come to find out he has 4 blockages : 2 @ 20% , 1@ 70 % and not sure about the 4th . vandy did not put the stints in and the drs are hoping for surgery on thursday , open heart surgery .

i got my secret swapper box yesterday and it was great ! in my box was a kit and 2 skeins of yarn for dyeing my own yarn !! yay, yay ! i was so happy and suprized as well .

tomorrow chris will be home from texas and i'll be so glad . this week has been very long . yesterday the boys and i took offr and drove to GA to see my sister . the drive was about 3 hours to her house and then we all went swimming at the local "pond " . the water was ICE cold to me . the boys had fun and i got to see my sister so i guess it was all worth it .

yesterday in the mail i also go the traveling teddy . oh he is so cute . i have him for about 10 days and i think i will take him to the lys and get some pics of him . i am thinking i will make him an afghan for his adventure . i have no idead where all he is going but he will have to have something to cover up w/ so he can rest during his travels .

i have mailed off my starbucks swap package and #2 for summer swap . the boys are taking swim lessons and are loving it . they know how to swim and all i just think they enjoy taking them . i dont guess it will hurt anything for them to keep taking lessons . next week i go to renee's . i will probally go on wednesday anfter swimming and come back that night . i'm not spending the night w/ her . omg today is another busy day for me . i have to go to the grocery store , wash clothes , and a bunch of other stuff i'm sure . chris leaves for texas on monday and will gone for a WEEK !

well the 4th is over . we went to the bass club to watch the fireworks over the lake . the boys seemed to like them more this year , personally , i thought this years was a bit on the cheezy side but thats my opinion !
saturday we took the boys to the zoo in nashville . we all had a great day . i love to look at all the animals , nathan does too . i think chris only goes 'cause nathan and i are in awww at all the animals . i even rode the merry - go - round w/ the boys . saturday was the first time ever on a merry-go- round for me .

i finally finished nathan's afghan . now i have stared on nick's and it is going rather fast , nathan's did too . i think it took about 2 1/2 weeks to make .

this summer seems to be creaping by for me . the boys are out of school so maybe that ia what's dragging the time by .

the week of july 14 , 2008 the boys and i are going to georgia to see my sister and neice . this should be interesting . that same week chris will be in austin , tx on buisness .

finished my afghan !!!! i took the whole thing apart and then put it back together . chris got home from st.louis ... finally . it seemed like he was gone forever this time . so far the boys have been great this summer , sometimes i wonder when the other shoe will drop . i am really struggling with this yarn swap . the person i got is the polar opposite of me . i have read her blog several times looking for clues and i have yet to find ANY and the are 3 months of this . if im struggling now i cant imagine what it will be like in august ! i started nathans afghan last night maybe it wont take too long to make it . i hope nickolas doesnt think that i dont want to do him one but i do i just have to wind his yarn up and it is hard when i dont have a winder . i started nick an afghan but halfway through it i got pissed and it is still on the end table . i was not mad at nick i was mad at that stupid pattern and the yarn . IT JUST DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE PIX IN THE BOOK ! silly reason huh?

oh wow ! i have not blogged in awhile . the boys are out for the summer . i think it's going to be another hot one this year !!! already in the mid to upper 90's !!
i have just 3 more squares on my afghan and i will be done , then i will have to crochet all the squares together . i am impressed with myself , the afghan looks really pretty .

today was the day of the big wedding . i guess everything went well if you call the event lets cater to sue day . sue (my mother - in- law) cant stand it if she does not get her way in everything . the wedding was suppose to be about abe & beth but NO sue turned it into an event for her. for starters she would not sit on the grooms side , which the groom was her son , she sat on the brides side ... strange . i guess she did not want to asociate herself with ex hubby and myself . whatever ! she got her way and that is all that matters to her . anyway , the wedding was okay if you like spending tons of money for a 30 min show .
school will be out soon , only 2 more days , then i can sleep past 6:30 !!

omg what a day ! as soon as my feet hit the floor this morning it was something ! i have not even had time to crochet ! i am about ready to just call it a day and go to bed and cover my head .
only a few more days and the boys will be out for the summer .... hurray . as of right now we dont have any plans to do anything .
tomorrow will mark the two week spot of the kittens . i am bottle feeding 3 kittens . the mother ran off , was killed or somthing . anyway , she a dead beat momma if she ran off . im not sure how old they are , they are still wobbly when they walk . i had four but the skinny one died this week . their names are hungry hungry hippo , bula, and hitler . i have no idea what sex they are i just know they cry , pee and poop all the time .
fingers are getting sore more tomorrow .
